I
was born in Pensacola, Florida
in 1969,
the son of a sheriff’s
deputy and hard working stay-at-home
mom. My upbringing, life experiences
and education have all led
to my defining principle:
Justice for Everyone.
We moved
to Birmingham, Alabama where
I graduated in 1987 from W.A.
Berry High School (now called
Hoover High). After high school,
my family moved to Washington
D.C., and I worked for the
Central Intelligence Agency
for several years as a “United
States Special Police Officer.”
I would tell you more, but…well,
you know.
During that time, I was accepted
at The University of Virginia,
where I graduated with a Bachelor
of Arts degree in government.
By the time I graduated in
1994, my desire to help those
who are at the greatest disadvantage
in our legal system—ordinary
people—was firmly entrenched,
and I knew the best way for
me to help was to become a
lawyer. I returned to Birmingham
to attend law school at Samford
University’s Cumberland
School of Law and graduated
cum laude, ranked in the top
ten percent of my class of
210 students.
Shortly after graduating in
1997, I opened my own practice
to begin helping people. Since
then I have tried civil and
criminal jury and non-jury
trials and represented more
than a thousand criminal defendants
in everything from capital
murder, rape and robbery cases
down to traffic offenses,
simple theft and harassment.
I have represented a significant
number of injury victims ranging
from wrongful death car accidents
to simple slip and fall cases.
I have obtained many favorable
settlements for both civil
and criminal clients.
